Blades of Glory. B-
I'll get to the point quick: 'Blades of Glory' had its good parts. And in those good parts it shined. It is almost impossible to not laugh at a movie like this. Obviously this is due to Will Ferrell's outrageous behavior. Ferrell plays Chazz Michael Michaels, a drinking, womanizing son of a gun who just happens (I have no idea how) to be a pretty good figure skater. His competitor is Jimmy MacElroy (John Heder) a very silly young skater who also possesses mad skills. The two hate each other and after a brawl on the ice are banned from figure skating. But there is a loophole: they aren't banned from skating in duo format. So they regroup and become the first male skating pair. The only problem is that they still hate each other. The best parts of the movies are some of the little things, such as the mascot getting caught on fire, or Michaels' stint in a childrens' ice show. Heder gives a nice comic performance as well, but Ferrell pretty much steals most of the show. This has to be one of the worst movies ever made-which is what it's supposed to be. It's difficult to slam a movie like this when it is so innocently awful. The jokes were pretty consistently funny and the label on this movie is 'sit back and have a good time.'
