There's a moment in 'Blade' when our hero answers a question from the lovely dame about his mentor, Abraham Whistler: "He makes the weapons, I use them." 'Blade' is filled with great lines like that, and I think that one of the things I liked most about this movie was the dialogue. Wesley Snipes makes for about as good a superhero as there ever was as Blade, the half vampire, half human crime fighter who works to destroy a group of vampires as well as protect Dr. Karen Jenson, played by N'Busge Wright. The leader of the vampires is Deacon Frost (Stephen Doriff), a young vampire who wants to enslave humanity. 'Blade' is technically challenged. I believe it was shot on a relatively low budget, which would explain the sloppy special effects. However, this vampire horror-splash blood fest doesn't need to dazzle visually, thanks to the great performance by Snipes, as well as the continuous action sequences that any buff of the genre will absolutely dig. Of course the movie is over-the-top, and of course the plot and characters are ridiculous, but this movie still a lot of fun, and definitely one that can be seen and enjoyed time after time.
