Starsky and Hutch. C+

Starsky and Hutch the TV show is for a selected few who somehow care about it, and the movie is exactly the same way. I'm sure the original show isn't bad, but there's no reason for me to care about it. And that's the same with the 2004 movie adaptation starring Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson. Some people who are fans of the show will likely get a kick out of it, but for the rest of us there is absolutely no reason to waste time watching it. And that's not to say it's a bad movie, it's just that there is nothing particularly special or fun about it. It's simply another buddy cop comedy lacking anything to make it iconic or memorable. And for most of us, the special ending where the original stars David Soul and Paul Michael Glaser turn up will mean absolutely nothing. The plot itself isn't exactly worth discussing and the comedy is mostly dead, so the only real pleasure in watching the movie is seeing the cast. Besides Wilson and Stiller, there's a host of strong supporting characters, led by Snoop Dog, Will Ferrell, and Vince Vaughn. But again, this movie will only ever find a home for the few who love the show, and even then I think it would be a stretch.
