Sea of Love. B+

Sea of Love is surprisingly excellent, and when it's lined up aside a film like Basic Instinct, it looks even better. The movie stars Al Pacino as the proverbial worn down detective who gets rejuvenated by a case that seems to concern a call girl who answers rhyming poems in the lonely hearts section of the paper and proceeds to kill to the sounds of Phil Phillips' Sea of Love (a good, catchy song, by the way). I'm not going to reveal how the movie plays out except to say that I was surprised by both the ingenuity of the plot and the depth of the characters. This one just came out on blu ray. It makes for enjoyable movie watching when the choices seem slim. Note: good supporting cast here too, with John Goodman and Richard Jenkins.
